Dopapod’s final tour ahead of an indefinite hiatus rolled into Rochester, New York, on Tuesday. The band welcomed Goose keyboardist/guitarist Peter Anspach for four songs at Essex.

Anspach has a history with Dopapod. In 2014, the multi-instrumentalist toured with the band as a crew member. Here’s Dopapod guitarist Rob Compa telling a humorous story about some shenanigans the band had in store for Peter during his final show as a crew member at Peach Fest.

Dopapod’s former intern flew into Rochester last night to join the band, who will perform their final shows for the foreseeable future during a two-night New Year’s Eve run in Columbus, Ohio. In Rochester, Peter emerged toward the end of the first set to play guitar on “Metal Nuggy Jawson” before heading to Eli Winderman’s key world for the favorite “Indian Grits.”

Anspach returned to help kick off the encore by playing guitar/singing on “Best Friends,” and stayed on for closer “Runny.” Check out a raucous clip from the sit-in below along with the setlist and a note from Dopapod:

Dopapod kicked off the concert with a cover of Green Day’s “Welcome to Paradise” before heading through a “Draculas Monk” > “Nerds” > “Two Somebodies” > “Nerds” sequence. The second set got underway with “Cloud World” and closed with the band fitting Frank Zappa’s “I’m The Slime” within “Faba.”

Next up for Dopapod is a three-night run at Soundcheck Studios in Pembroke, Massachusetts, which kicks off tomorrow (December 5). Scroll down for the band’s remaining itinerary and ticket info.
