Goose acoustic offshoot Orebolo helped kick off the first day of music on Friday (January 12) at the inaugural Dead Ahead destination event in Riviera Cancún, Mexico. The trio of Goose guitarists Rick Mitarotonda and Peter Anspach and percussionist Jeff Arevalo on upright bass brought out fellow Dead Ahead performer Sturgill Simpson to collaborate on one of his standout songs.

Simpson emerged in the middle of Orebolo’s set that consisted of a mix originals like “Echo Of A Rose, “Tumble” and “Madhuvan” and covers like Father John Misty’s “I’m Writing A Novel” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Atlantic City.”

Simpson literally sat in on a rendition of “Breakers Roar,” from his 2016 album, A Sailor’s Guide to Earth, taking a seat between Mitarotonda and Anspach while adding an electric third guitar to the mix.
