Goose and Mt. Joy teamed for a co-headline concert at the University of Wisconsin’s Kohl Center in Madison on Wednesday. The bands came together for a cover of Ween‘s “Ocean Man” and more.
Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotonda, keyboardist Peter Anspach, bassist Trevor Weekz and drummer Cotter Ellis joined Mt. Joy to launch the collaborative encore of the concert. The collab kicked off with a cover of Ween’s “Ocean Man,” which saw Rick and Mt. Joy’s Matt Quinn sharing lead vocal duties. Check it out below:

The encore continued with Mt. Joy favorite, “Astrovan,” which saw Rick reeling off an extended slow-boiled solo. The final song of the evening was a cover of 4 Non Blondes‘ “What’s Up?” The sing-along tune saw Rick and sharing vocal duties once again to cap the collab.

Goose launched the concert with a well-jammed “Animal” followed by a pair of the band’s recent singles “Royal” and “Your Direction.” “Royal” was played for just the fourth time following its debut on August 14, the same day the album it appears on, the surprise-released Chain Yer Dragon, came out.
“Your Direction” appears on Goose’s first LP of 2025, Everything Must Go. While the song was recently officially released and debuted by Goose this year, it dates back to the proto-Goose band Vasudo and was played as early as 2012, as per ElGoose.net.
The quartet then expanded upon older tune “Arcadia” before throwing a dance party on “Creatures,” with both songs hovering around the 15 minute mark. Next, “Slow Ready” was also given a substantial treatment before Goose sealed the show with Everything Must Go cut, “Give It Time.”
Mt. Joy’s set got underway with “Pink Lady,” off the band’s 2025 album, Hope We Have Fun. Standouts from the set included “Orange Blood,” “Julia,” and “Ruins,” with the latter containing elements of The Velvet Underground’s “Oh Sweet Nuthin.”
The quintet – Quinn, Sam Cooper, Sotiris Eliopoulos, Jackie Miclau and Michael Byrnes — also worked Buddy Holly’s “Not Fade Away,” into “Mt. Joy.” Toward the end of the set, Mt. Joy offered favorites such as “Bathroom Light” and “Silver Lining,” with the latter capping Mt. Joy’s main set ahead of the Goose collab.
