A 51-year-old man died after falling from an elevated position during Goose's Saturday show at Madison Square Garden. The incident occurred during setbreak, and the man was later pronounced dead at Bellevue Hospital, according to officials.
“At approximately 9:51 p.m. inside Madison Square Garden, officers observed a 51-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive,” the NYPD told the New York Post. The start of the second set was delayed while emergency personnel and venue staff dealt with the aftermath of the fall.
The man, identified by the Post as Paul Kueker, a married father of two from Connecticut, fell into section 102. Fans from the section were evacuated and offered new seats, while multiple rows were roped off for the duration of the evening.
A “heartbroken” Goose issued a statement on social media addressing the tragic incident:
“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show. We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected.
“Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.”
Goose’s Saturday night show was their second of two nights at MSG. The Connecticut-based quartet will play NYC’s Central Park SummerStage tonight.
