Goose‘s summer tour continued at the intimate Pine Creek Lodge in Livingston, Montana on Tuesday night. Torrin Daniels of Montana-based string band Kitchen Dwellers joined Goose on banjo for one song during each set of Goose’s first of two shows at the venue.

Last night’s opening frame began with “The Whales,” an original Goose debuted last year. The band then went with oldie “Lead The Way” before bringing out Daniels to add banjo to a cover of Paul Simon’s “Me And Julio Down By The School Yard.” Goose LD Andrew Goedde provided the whistling section as he usually does when the group performs the tune. A slow and melodic version of “All I Need” followed along the Elvis Presley-popularized “Marie’s The Name.” Multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach led the group through “White Lights” to close the set.

Goose treated fans to a five-song second set last night in Livingston. Up first was “Travelers,” which like “The Whales” was premiered by the band during their Bingo Tour in 2020. “Travelers” bled into a “Flodown” featuring Torrin Daniels. Torrin and Goose guitarist Rick Mitarotonda exchanged licks throughout the song. Fan-favorite “Wysteria Lane” came next and included a jam on the theme from animated children’s television series The Magic School Bus. “Wysteria” gave way to “Echo Of A Rose” before Goose completed the frame with a cover of Rupert Holmes’ yacht rock classic “Escape.”

The quintet returned to the stage to cap the night with a “Jive Lee” encore. Goose worked teases of John Scofield’s “Chank” into the “Jive Lee” finale. The band completes their two-night stand in Montana tonight and then heads to Denver for shows on Friday and Saturday at Sculpture Park featuring support from Kitchen Dwellers. Livestreams are available for purchase here.
