Good Vibes Grams Provides Personalized Virtual Telegrams

This past Tuesday was my best friend and roommate’s birthday but how do you make such an occasion special under quarantine? Since my pal is a live music fan, I used the new Good Vibes Grams service and was thrilled when a big smile came across his face after receiving a personalized virtual telegram from Trey Anastasio Band trumpeter/vocalist Jennifer Hartswick.

It was simple to order the Good Vibes Grams. Options are “BDAY VIBES” (Happy Birthday song performed by the artist of your choice), “XTRA LOVE VIBES” (Song of the artist’s choosing + a well wishing message) and “ULTIMATE VIBES” (Song of your choice + a custom message from the artist). After selecting “BDAY VIBES” and picking Jennifer Hartswick from a list of 34 musicians that also includes Robert Randolph, Nikki Glaspie, Cris Jacobs, Freekbass, Aron Magner, Ryan Stasik, Natalie Cressman and many others, I entered my friend’s name, his email, my email, some notes for Jennifer and my credit card information. On his birthday, my friend came out of his room with a big smile on his face and I knew the Good Vibes Gram had arrived.

Good Vibes Grams was created by and is run by Jen Giuliano, an independent promoter and contractor for live and virtual events. “During the COVID-19 crisis, I noticed a lot of people forced to celebrate birthday’s in quarantine. I thought, wouldn’t it be cool if you could commission a musician to send a virtual birthday gift?” Giuliano told JamBase. “I ran the idea past a couple friends, Shira Elias and Kevin Scott, who expressed enthusiastic interest so I decided to do it myself and it blossomed from there. It took five meticulous, interminable days to build the site and system.”

Not only does a Good Vibes Grams purchase bring joy to live music fans while stuck at home, but it provides a much-appreciated income stream for artists. Giuliano leveraged her existing relationships with musicians to build a network of 34 musicians and counting participating in Good Vibes Grams. “I sent out a mass email and was really amazed with the amount of artists who wanted to participate,” Giuliano added. “Jen Hartswick was also instrumental in connecting me with people.”

Purchasers should aim to get their orders in two days before they want the telegram to arrive. “However, there is a note section at the end of the order form,” Jen explained. “You can request to have it sent earlier and I can work with the artist to get to it in time.” Giuliano is in the same boat as many in the music industry as she is unemployed for the (un)foreseeable future, “This project was born out of my lack-of-work and continued ambition to bring healing through music and generate revenue for artists.” While she isn’t rolling in the dough from Good Vibes Grams, the joy she is bringing is infectious and “is simply what I need right now.”
