Legendary drummer Ginger Baker was set to embark on brief tours of the U.K. and America in April and May respectively with his Ginger Baker’s Air Force ensemble. Unfortunately, Baker has cancelled all upcoming gigs due to a doctor’s diagnosis of “serious heart problems.”

Baker, best known for his run as drummer in Cream, shared the following on his blog: “just seen doctor… big shock…. no more gigs for this old drummer…. everything is off…. of all things i never thought it would be my heart….” A note on the official Ginger Baker Facebook page reads, “To all fans; it is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of all shows. Ginger’s doctor’s have insisted that he have complete rest due to diagnosis of serious heart problems. We hope you will all join with his family in wishing him well. God bless Ginger Baker.”

As Rolling Stone noted, Ginger Baker performed as recently as January. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery for the legendary drummer.
