Ginger Baker Critically Ill
Legendary drummer Ginger Baker has been hospitalized and is critically ill as per a note shared on his social media feeds. “Announcement. Ginger is critically ill in hospital,” starts the note. “Please keep him in your prayers. Thank you everyone.”
No additional details on Baker’s condition have been shared. Ginger Baker is a co-founding member of Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame band Cream. The 80-year-old drummer formed Cream with Eric Clapton and Jack Bruce in 1966. Cream broke up just two years later. Baker went on to co-found Blind Faith with Clapton, Ric Grech and Steve Winwood in 1969 and their time as a band lasted only one tour and album. The English drummer formed his own band, Ginger Baker’s Air Force, and collaborated with a who’s who of musicians over the past five decades.
Ginger Baker underwent open heart surgery in 2016 at which point he stopped touring.
