George Martin 1926 – 2016

Legendary producer Sir George Martin who was intimately involved in the creation of The Beatles groundbreaking albums has died. Born in England on January 3, 1926, the “Fifth Beatle” had just recently turned 90 years old. News of his death was confirmed by The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr.
First teaming with The Fab Four in 1962, Martin was integral to their development, often playing the role of arranger during the many sessions he helmed at Abbey Road studios. Martin produced such renowned LPs as Revolver, Rubber Soul, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and The Beatles (The White Album), among many more. Martin and his son Giles Martin worked together in 2006 to produced the music for the Las Vegas production of Cirque du Soleil’s Love.
The elder Martin’s credits also included Elton John, Gerry & the Pacemakers, Paul McCartney & Wings, Jeff Beck and Cheap Trick among several others.
