Today marks the anniversary of the death of George Harrison who died on November 29, 2001 at age 58 after battling cancer. The quiet Beatle left an undeniable mark on rock and pop music both with the Fab Four and during his subsequent solo career after the iconic band’s breakup. We’re remembering George by taking a look back at the multi-talented artist performing live on stage in a variety of settings with some of the greatest musicians to ever live.

Before we get to the live performance, Harrison’s official website posted a short Remembering George video tribute which is posted below:

Harrison and Ravi Shankar held The Concert for Bangladesh benefit at Madison Square Garden on August 1, 1971 and recruited an all-star lineup of musicians for the charity show. Fellow Beatle Ringo Starr as well as Bob Dylan, Leon Russell, Billy Preston and Eric Clapton were among those taking the stage at the Garden that night. Watch Clapton command “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” followed by George playing a track from his solo album All Things Must Pass:

Clapton and Harrison can also be seen sharing the stage in this clip from the 1991 Live In Japan recording. Also in the mix are drummer Steve Ferrone, keyboardist Chuck Leavell and guitarist Andy Fairweather Low among others in this take on George’s “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth),” watch:

Paul Simon teamed up with George for a couple of songs during an episode of Saturday Night Live in 1976. Watch the duo perform Simon’s “Homeward Bound” on SNL:

Harrison played a concert at the famed Royal Albert Hall in London back in April 1992. There was plenty of fan-shot footage of the show captured that evening, here’s one of The Beatles classics penned by George – “Taxman”:

These clips show Harrison’s last live performance from an unplanned appearance on VH1 with Ravi Shankar in 1997. Along with being interviewed by John Fugelsang, George played a number of songs including his beautiful solo acoustic guitar rendition of “All Things Must Pass” and “Prabhujee” which you can see below:
