George Harrison’s solo debut All Things Must Pass is receiving the 50th anniversary treatment. The revisiting of the landmark 1970 triple LP will arrive in a suite of editions including super deluxe and a limited uber deluxe box set on August 6 via Capitol/UMe.

The super deluxe 50th anniversary edition of All Things Must Pass features 70 tracks across five CDs or eight LPs and boasts 42 previously unreleased demo recordings, session outtakes and studio jams. Curated by the Geroge Harrison family and executive produced by his son Dhani Harrison, the collection — product produced by David Zonshine and re-mixed by Grammy-winning engineer Paul Hicks (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, John Lennon) — offers an intimate glimpse into the first-ever triple studio album and one of the greatest solo debuts of all time.

“Even before I started, I knew I was gonna make a good album because I had so many songs and I had so much energy,” Harrison said of the legendary LP. “For me to do my own album after all that – it was joyous. Dream of dreams.”

The compilation includes the original album featuring beloved songs like “What is Life,” “My Sweet Lord” a cover of Bob Dylan’s “If Not For You” and many more. The record also brought together an all-star cast of guest musicians including Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Bobby Keys and members of Derek And The Dominos, Traffic and Yes, among others.

For the 30th anniversary of All Things Must Pass released in 2001 (the same year Harrison died), George wrote in the liner notes: “I still like the songs on the album and believe they can continue to outlive the style in which they were recorded.” But he added: “It was difficult to resist re-mixing every track. All these years later I would like to liberate some of the songs from the big production that seemed appropriate at the time.”

Dhani Harrison spoke about fulfilling his father’s wish to reimagine the album. Read his words below:

Since the 50th-anniversary stereo mix release of the title track to my father’s legendary All Things Must Pass album in 2020, my dear pal Paul Hicks and I have continued to dig through mountains of tapes to restore and present the rest of this newly remixed and expanded edition of the album you now see and hear before you. Bringing greater sonic clarity to this record was always one of my father’s wishes and it was something we were working on together right up until he passed in 2001. Now, 20 years later, with the help of new technology and the extensive work of Paul Hicks we have realized this wish and present to you this very special 50th Anniversary release of perhaps his greatest work of art. Every wish will be fulfilled.

The George Harrison Estate previews the extensive new collection with a video for a previously unheard outtake of “Run Of The Mill (Take 36)” as well as a trailer for the 50th anniversary edition of All Things Must Pass. Check out both below:
