GARY LOURIS ANNOUNCES FIRST NORTH AMERICAN SOLO TOUR

Over a span of 30 years, singer/songwriter/guitarist Gary Louris has released eight Jayhawks albums, four Golden Smog and one solo album, a deeply compelling body of music whose artistry and integrity has won Louris the loyalty of an international audience and the respect of both critics and peers. He’s one of the most acclaimed musicians to come out of Minnesota’s teeming rock scene. And now he’ll celebrate his first three decades as an artist with a solo tour featuring a set of songs spanning his entire Jayhawks and solo career.
The tour, which begins September 21 in Three Oaks, MI, marks the first slate of truly solo dates for the prolific Jayhawks frontman. In the past, Louris has performed only a handful of one-off gigs as a solo artist. He briefly toured the U.K. and Europe in 2008 as a solo performer but his U.S. dates were backed by the American folk band Vetiver.
“It’s amazing to look back on all of the material over the years, says Louris. “I’ll perform as many Jayhawks favorites as time permits but I will also mix in solo material. This tour will probably light a fire to get my next solo record going . . . I’ve been neglecting the working musician part of my career. I always look at the Jayhawks days with great fondness, nothing has changed there, but it’s time to get myself back to working on new material while I’m on the road.”
