‘What We All Want’: The Black Crowes’ Rich Robinson Joins Gang Of Four In Nashville
The guitarist sat in on “What We All Want” at last night’s show at The Basement East.

Gang of Four brought their The Long Goodbye Tour to Nashville for a concert Monday night at The Basement East. The Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson joined the influential British rock band for a performance of “What We All Want.”
Gang Of Four’s current lineup is composed of co-founding frontman Jon King and drummer Hugo Burnham, along with newcomers Ted Leo on guitar and Belly’s Gail Greenwood on bass. The post-punk group’s farewell tour features an opening set track-by-track presentation of the their landmark 1979 debut album Entertainment!.

The band then performs a set of songs from throughout their accomplished catalog. Last night began with “He’d Send in the Army” that saw King banging on a microwave with a baseball bat throughout.
Later in the set, Robinson was brought out to play guitar on “What We All Want” from Gang Of Four’s sophomore album, 1981’s Solid Gold.
Robinson is one of several special guests to have joined Gang Of Four at various stops of The Long Goodbye Tour. Lenny Kaye, Marissa Paternoster, Bif Naked, Roger Miller, Tanya Donelly, Superchunk’s Mac McCaughan and R.E.M.’s Mike Mills.
