Galactic Shares New Year’s Eve 2019 Concert: Pro-Shot Video

Galactic recently rebroadcast pro-shot video from their New Year’s Eve 2019 concert at Tipitina’s. The band’s December 31, 2019 performance came at the legendary venue in their hometown of New Orleans Galactic purchased in 2018.

Bassist Robert Mercurio and drummer Stanton Moore provided an introduction to the video and asked for donations (the links are below) from those who are able. Galactic was joined by featured vocalist Anjelika ‘Jelly’ Joseph for a bulk of their performance on NYE. Joseph led the group through “Higher & Higher” from 2015’s Into The Deep before belting out “Float Up,” a song Galactic & Jelly would release as a single about six weeks after the show. Next up was “Clap Your Hands,” one of three tunes from Galactic’s most recent studio album — Already Ready Already — to make the setlist.

Galactic went it alone for “Fabuloso” before celebrating the start of 2020 with a countdown and the traditional “Auld Lang Syne.” Jelly returned to the stage for a string of songs at the beginning of the year that included “Qualified,” “Going Straight Crazy” and “Hey Na Na.” A few instrumental tunes followed before Anjelika led Galactic through “You Don’t Know.” The two-hour career-spanning performance continued with Jelly coming on and off-stage throughout.

While most of the show was heavy on the funk and high-energy numbers, Galactic and Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph took it down a notch for the ballad “68 And Cloudy” ahead of a set-closing “Right On.” The band kicked off the encore with “Baker’s Dozen” and then were joined by Jelly for a “Dolla Diva” finale.
