As reported, Ween held made their first appearance in Chicago as part of this year’s installment of Riot Fest, performing at the annual event on September 16. Thanks to a recently surfaced video there’s now footage of the entire 20-song set at Douglas Park available to view.
Ween’s first performance in the Windy City since 2011 featured four songs the band had yet to play since reforming earlier this year after going on hiatus in 2012. Guitarists Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo and Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman, keyboardist Glenn McClelland, drummer Claude Coleman, Jr. and bassist Dave Dreiwitz began the show with the first “I’m Dancing In The Show Tonight” since January 25, 2011.
Another song from their album The Mollusk, “I’ll Be Your Jonny On The Spot” was the set’s second post-breakup bust-out. The quintet also broke out “Marble Tulip Juicy Tree” from their debut LP GodWeenSatan: The Oneness and offered a long awaited rendition of “You Were The Fool” which was recorded for their 12 Golden Country Greats album.
Ween also played such staples as “Happy Colored Marbles,” “Baby Bitch,” “Touch My Tooter,” “A Tear For Eddie,” “The Stallion Pt. 3” and “Zoloft.” Video of the complete set captured by 322dan can be seen below:
