In 1995 Ween made their debut at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. They returned to the iconic outdoor venue again in 2001 and 2006 and last staged a show there on September 6, 2009. Following last year’s reunion, Ween will once again paint Red Rocks brown this summer with a show on July 12.
This installment of Throwback Thursday revisits the band’s last visit to Red Rocks. The full show video presented below features one long set delivered by Mickey “Dean Ween” Melchiondo, Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman, Dave Dreiwitz, Claude Coleman Jr. and Glenn McClelland.
“Pork Roll Egg And Cheese” opened Ween’s 2009 Red Rocks performance and 27 songs later they capped evening with “Roses Are Free.” Staples such as “Take Me Away,” “Voodoo Lady. “Touch My Tooter,” “Mister Would You Please Help My Pony?,” “Ocean Man,” “I’ll Be Your Jonny On The Spot, “Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down),” “Buckingham Green” and “Doctor Rock” helped round out the rest of the main set. “Fiesta,” “The Mollusk” and the aforementioned “Roses” served as the encore nearly eight years ago.
