Full Show Video: Rare Jake Cinninger Solo Performance
By Scott Bernstein Nov 17, 2015 • 6:45 am PST
Umphrey’s McGee guitarist Jake Cinninger played a pair of rare solo performances at Tonic Room in Chicago on Sunday. Cinninger, backed by pre-recorded drum tracks, displayed his multi-instrumental talents over the course of early and late shows featuring covers, solos and a handful of UM originals.
Jake brought plenty of gear from his Michigan studio to Tonic Room on Sunday as he moved between guitar, bass and keyboards all while backed by drum tracks. Cinninger opened with a new original dubbed “Something Inside” and would go on to work UM originals “Nopener,” “Bad Poker” and “Wizard Burial Ground” into his set. On the cover front, Jake treated fans to renditions of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac, “Dancing Days” by Led Zeppelin, “Hysteria” by Def Leppard, “Night Moves” by Bob Seger, The Cars’ “Moving In Stereo” and others. The late show had a similar setlist as to what went down at the early show.
