Full Show Video: Joe Russo’s Almost Dead In New Haven
By Scott Bernstein Feb 16, 2016 • 10:18 am PST

Back on Thursday night, Grateful Dead tribute act Joe Russo’s Almost Dead continued a run up the Northeast Corridor with a performance at College Street Music Hall in New Haven, Connecticut. The five-piece was joined by special guest Stuart Bogie for portions of both sets as well as the encore. Full show video of the performance shot by videographer MKDevo has surfaced for our viewing enjoyment.
JRAD’s lineup for the run featured Jon Shaw on bass as the group’s normal bassist Dave Dreiwitz was out in Colorado with Ween. Bogie showed off his multi-instrumental prowess throughout the evening. At points he added sax, while at others he contributed bass harmonica, flute and clarinet. All told it made for very interesting interpretations of such Grateful Dead classics as “The Eleven,” “St. Stephen,” “Cumberland Blues” and “King Solomon’s Marbles.” There were plenty of expansive jams on Thursday night including a near 20-minute “St. Stephen,” a “Let It Grow” that explored various soundscapes and a lengthy “Eyes Of The World.” Check out MKDevo’s footage below.
