Full Show Video: Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Offer Up Tour Debuts In Philly
By Jeffrey Greenblatt Jun 4, 2017 • 11:30 am PDT
Last night Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds continued their lengthy North American tour with the second of two shows at the Mann Center for Performing Arts in Philadelphia. The duo treated fans to material from the Dave Matthews Band catalog, while also offering up a handful of tour debuts.
Dave and Tim opened up the night with “Crush,” and next offered the tour debut with “Pig,” which was the first time the duo had ever played it live together. From there they mixed tunes like “Granny,” “Fool To Think” and “Say Goodbye” before dusting off a cover of “A Whiter Shade Of Pale.” The Procol Harum tune was last played by Dave and Tim back in November of 2011, and last night marked only their fourth attempt at the song. Two songs later the pair offered up their first version of “Spoon” since December of 2010, and just their fourth full version of the Before These Crowded Streets track since 1999.
The rest of the 24-song main set was filled out by fan-favorites likes “#41,” “Minarets,” “Stay (Wasting Time),” and “Dancing Nancies.” The duo opened up their first encore with their first ever take on “Why Am I,” from DMB’s 2009 release Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King, followed up a rousing version of “Two Step.” Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds returned to the stage for a second encore and closed out with “Everyday” and “Oh.”
