By Scott Bernstein Nov 1, 2017 • 10:00 am PDT

New Orleans funk act Dumpstaphunk played what has turned into a traditional Halloween show at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley, California on October 31. The band was joined by the Jazz Mafia Horns as well as Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir.
Weir emerged partway through Dumpstaphunk’s set to join in for a handful of songs. First up was a cover of the Motown smash as done in the style of The Band, “Don’t Do It.” Next, Ivan Neville, Weir & Co. covered the NOLA classic “Iko Iko.” A funky version of Bob Dylan’s “Maggie’s Farm” followed. Bobby then led the group including the horns of The Temptations’ “Shaky Ground” and the Grateful Dead gem “Shakedown Street.”
The Grateful Dead guitarist left the stage and Dumpstaphunk continued on with a wild, reggae-tinged cover of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin'” and a number of their own songs. Watch video of the entire show via the venue’s webcast with Dumpstaphunk’s set starting around the 2:00:00 mark and Weir emerging at 2:33:00:
