Full Show Friday | The Return Of Addison Groove Project

By Scott Bernstein Sep 20, 2013 10:30 am PDT

Last year neo-groove act Addison Groove Project made their long-awaited return for a private wedding and a one-off gig in Boston nearly five years after the band parted ways. The group formed in the late ’90s when many of the members attended Wellesley High School together and crafted an inventive sound that mixed their influences. AGP made a name for themselves thanks to relentless touring and great songwriting as well as their mind-blowing live sets filled with hard-hitting funk grooves.

Tomorrow, AGP will make their Brooklyn Bowl debut in advance of their return to Boston’s Paradise on September 28. For the group’s first New York City gig of the decade, they will welcome special guests Jennifer Hartswick and Natalie Cressman of the Trey Anastasio Band. Jam fans heading to Brooklyn Bowl have the added bonus of a late-night U-Melt reunion following AGP’s performance. In celebration of Addison Groove Project’s return, we wanted to share a fan-shot video from last year’s reunion gig in Boston. We’re cheating, as it’s not a full show, but it displays how incredibly tight the band was after a five-year layoff.
