Full Show Friday | Nirvana Live November 1989

Today would have been Kurt Cobain’s 48th birthday had the influential founding member of Nirvana not tragically taken his own life April 5, 1994 at the age of 27. With lyrics that often shed light on the internal demons Cobain wrestled with and ultimately succumbed to, he quickly became a leading voice in the grunge music scene that captivated popular music in the early 1990s. Cobain’s impact on a generation of rock ‘n’ roll fans and fellow musicians helped bring what was then deemed alternative into the mainstream.

In honor of Cobain’s birthday, this week’s Full Show Friday features footage of Nirvana’s early days from a concert in Linz, Austria, November 20, 1989. Appearing at the Kapu club, Cobain was joined by bassist Krist Novoselic and drummer Chad Channing (who was later replaced by Dave Grohl) for the 17 song, hour+ set.
