Full Show Audio & Videos: John Mayer Pays Tribute To Chuck Berry In Boston
By Scott Bernstein Apr 10, 2017 • 7:01 am PDT
John Mayer brought his The Search For Everything Tour to Boston’s TD Garden on Sunday night. The show stuck to a similar format as other performances on the run and included the tour debut of a Chuck Berry cover within the John Mayer Trio section of the concert.
Mayer began the evening backed by his full band for “Queen Of California,” “Moving On And Getting Over” and more. Sunday’s acoustic portion of the show featured “Emoji Of A Wave,” “Neon” and a cover of Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin’.” It was then on to the John Mayer Trio’s three-song mini-set which saw the threesome tackle “Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry on the day of the legendary guitarist’s funeral in St. Louis. Last night’s John Mayer Trio segment also included the JM original “Vultures” and Jimi Hendrix’s “Bold As Love.”
The main set ended with five more songs from the full band: “Changing,” “Slow Dancing In A Burning Room,” “Still Feel Like Your Man,” “Belief” and “Why Georgia.” Mayer’s first encore in Boston featured “Dear Marie” and “Gravity,” while like other shows this tour he ended the evening with a solo piano rendition of “You’re Gonna Live Forever In Me.”
