New Jersey jamgrass act Railroad Earth and their fans have taken over Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania this weekend for the band’s annual Horn O’ Plenty Getaway. The main event of Friday’s festivities took place at the Sherman Theater, where Circles Around The Sun opened for Railroad Earth. CATS guitarist Neal Casal sat-in with RRE for portions of both sets on Friday night.

Railroad Earth focused on heavy rotation originals throughout the first set including “Shockenaw Mountain Breakdown,” “Chains,” and “Carrying Coal To Newcastle.” Fan-favorite “Mighty River” was followed by a “The Jupiter And The 119” > “Cuckoo Medley” sequence. Then, Casal emerged to add to a cover of the JGB staple “My Sisters & Brothers.” RRE’s second set was highlighted by a 25-minute “1759” > “Goat” segment before Neal Casal came out once again to help the group end the set with “Warhead Boogie” > “Wayfaring Stranger.”

A big surprise was in store for the encore as Railroad Earth covered “Keep Movin’ On” by Sam Cooke for just the ninth time ever and first since May 7, 2011. Railroad Earth returns to the Sherman Theater on Saturday night.
