Full Show Audio: Assembly Of Dust Returns To Portland & Burlington

By Scott Bernstein Nov 22, 2016 1:47 pm PST

On Friday and Saturday nights Assembly of Dust played a short run that included stops at Port City Music Hall in Portland, Maine and Higher Ground in Burlington, Vermont. Reid Genauer & Co. loaded a total of three sets with fan favorites as well as choice covers. Nate Wilson filled in for Jason Crosby on keyboards at both shows. Crispy soundboard matrix recordings of AoD’s recent visits to Port City Music Hall and Higher Ground have surfaced.

The run began on Friday at Port City Music Hall. Assembly of Dust kicked off a lengthy set with “Man With A Plan” and fit in many longtime staples including “Bootlegger’s Advice,” “Honest Hour,” “Second Song,” “Roads” and “Mama.” AoD’s performance in Portland featured a cover of Stephen Stills’ “Love The One You’re With” and a take on “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley” as the encore. “Three Little Birds” would be the only song repeated over the course of the run.

Assembly of Dust’s career-spanning show at Higher Ground included takes on such beloved classics as “Samuel Aging,” “Paul Henry,” Sometimes,” “Little By Little” and “Poland.” The band worked a rare cover of Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home” ahead of their own “Speculator.” AoD jammed out the singalong “Speculator” and it eventually dissolved into a rendition of “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley. Genauer tacked on a brief reprise of “Speculator” following the Marley cover. Reid returned for the encore to perform a solo acoustic cover of Gillian Welch’s “Miss Ohio.” The rest of the band then came out to say farewell with a slow-closing “Rachel.”
