Full Set Audio: Holly Bowling Welcomes Lebo, Jennifer Hartswick & Natalie Cressman On Jam Cruise 16

Jam Cruise 16 departed from Miami on January 17 aboard the NCL Pearl packed to the gills with talented musicians and attendees. While JamBase will provide full coverage via a review, podcast, list and more; a stellar recording featuring a standout Holly Bowling set has surfaced and can be streamed below.

Bowling was all over the place on Jam Cruise 16 from her two Atrium sets to sit-ins with what seemed like at least a dozen different acts. The pianist also took part in activities and always had time to interact with fans. As mentioned, Holly Bowling played two sets in the Atrium before intimate crowds. Her first Atrium performance took place on the night of departure. Jeffrey Bowling captured a crystal clear soundboard recording.

Holly began her set with the inventive pairing of “Lost Sailor” and “Divided Sky.” Fans sung along with latter and the pianist found a cool way to deal with “the pause” that has become part of Phish’s live versions, as she used a device to beam in on strings within the piano. Next up was a beautiful original, “Proxima B” and an expansive “Free” ahead of the expected and ethereal “Saint Of Circumstance.”

Jam Cruise is all about collaboration and Holly’s sets were no exception. Bowling brought out ALO guitarist Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, who was aboard as an Artist-At-Large, to sit-in on the Grateful Dead’s Bird Song.” Then, Holly’s set reached its peak with a wonderful and soulful rendition of Warren Haynes’ “Soulshine” featuring Lebo and fellow Artists-At-Large Jennifer Hartswick and Natalie Cressman. Hartswick and Cressman traded lead vocals on the delightful version of “Soulshine.”
