Portland, OR based Americana-rock act Fruition have just released Meeting On The Mountain, a new four-song EP recorded with members of Boulder’s Grant Farm. The album is available through all digital retailers starting today and will be out in physical form at Fruition and Grant Farm tour dates starting on Thursday at the Bluebird Theater in Denver, CO.

Meeting On The Mountain marks Fruition’s first release since last year’s fantastic Just One Of Them Nights LP. Fruition, who are currently working on the full-length follow-up to Just One Of Them Nights, and Grant Farm will celebrate the release of the new EP with a handful of upcoming co-bills.

Read more details on the Fruition/Grant Farm collaboration from a statement announcing the release of Meeting On The Mountain:

The two bands first met in 2011 when Fruition lugged their instruments into the snow and started busking outside of a Grant Farm show during a set-break. The stunt made an instant fan out of Tyler Grant, a National Flatpicking Champion, and his band who then brought Jay Cobb-Anderson out of the cold and onto the stage to play harmonica. Over the next few years, the two bands would run into each other at festivals and play onstage together whenever possible. This past summer, the friends found themselves with a few free days and an offer from engineer Andrew Lunsford to record at Kodak Lake Studio. Basic tracking was completed on the four songs in just one day. “Random Lee” (written by Fruition’s Cobb-Anderson (vocals/guitar/harmonica), Mimi Naja (vocals/mandolin) and Kellen Asebroek (vocals/guitar/piano)) evokes the West Coast cool of Fleetwood Mac; “Meet Me On The Mountain” (written by Anderson and Grant) conjures a laid back campfire sing-a-long vibe; “Lazy Gold” (Written by Grant and Naja) has the swagger of an in-the-pocket Allman Brothers jam flanked by a mellow harmonica interlude; and “Spliff” (written by Naja) is a tongue-in-cheek Pacific Northwest ode to Woody Guthrie’s classic “Crawdad Song.”
