The Freaks Action Network, a non-profit organization started by members of the tastemaking New York City email list, the NYC Freaks recently launched the Fan Musicians Relief Fund to help professional musicians get through the COVID-19 pandemic until live music returns. A second phase of grants will be awarded following the success of the program’s initial phase.

FAN awarded $400 grants to 25 individual recipents as part of the first phase and after an enthusastic fundraising campaign, 25 more grants will be awarded to applicants who are residents of New York City and derived at least 50% of their income performing live music in 2019. Head here to donate and for the application. All applications must be received by September 10 and 25 grantees will be randomly selected from those who meet the eligibility criteria.

“We’re glad we’ve been able to give back and lend a hand to these New York musicians who mean so much to our community,” said FAN president and JamBase contributor Aaron Stein. “Unfortunately, there’s still a great need for help and so FAN is committed to keep doing what we can to get the scene through these crazy times.”
