Forecastle Festival Organizers Cancel 2021 Event & Announce 2022 Dates
This year’s Forecastle Festival has been canceled. Organizers revealed Forecastle is “taking a pause” in 2021 but expect the music festival to “return stronger than ever in 2022.”
While the Forecastle Festival usually takes place in July, the 2022 event will be held over Memorial Day Weekend at its longtime home of Waterfront Park in Louisville. Organizers axed the 2020 festival last April as the pandemic began and never officially confirmed 2021 dates, though the announcement stated “Forecastle will return stronger than ever in 2021.”
“Forecastle Festival will be taking a pause in 2021 and will return stronger than ever in 2022,” starts the note from organizers shared today. “Feedback from our loyal fans is incredibly important to us, and we are taking this time to make improvements across the board to make Forecastle 2022 an even more incredible experience. We are excited to share that the festival is moving to Memorial Day Weekend beginning in 2022 and beyond, bringing cooler temperatures and even better vibes!”
The inaugural Forecastle Festival took place in Tyler Park in 2002. Waterfront Park has hosted the event, which is currently presented by AC Entertainment, since 2010. Jack Johnson, Cage The Elephant, Umphrey’s McGee, Goose, Grace Potter and The 1975 were among the acts scheduled to play Forecastle in 2020.
