Foo Fighters had a special surprise to end their concert at The Forum in Los Angeles last night, as the band was joined by 11-year-old drummer Nandi Bushell for a performance of “Everlong.” Bushell’s guest appearance came following her 2020 drum battles with Foo Fighters’ frontman Dave Grohl and their adorable video chat a few months later.

“One day I picked up my phone, and my friends were all texting me asking if I had seen this shit? And I clicked on the link and I see someone is challenging me to a drum off. So I’m like, ‘Isn’t that nice?’ I kind of brush it off,” Grohl said as per Consequence as Nandi’s drum kit was rolled on-stage. “But all my friends tell me, ‘no dude, you have to step up. This is the real deal. This is a drum off.”

“So I respond. I said alright, I’ll play nice. But then she comes back, and she whoops my fucking ass in front of the entire planet,” the Foo Fighters frontman explained of their multiple drum offs. “Round three! I do something else, and she comes back and kicks my fucking ass again. Tonight was the first night I came face to face with my arch nemesis!”

Grohl then had kind words for Nandi and discussed how their drum offs added some light in a dark period. “In a time where you picked up your phone or turn on your computer and all you had was bad news, for that one day you could pick up your phone and see that connection between two people who never making music together and spreading joy and love all across the world,” added Dave.

Nandi absolutely crushed it behind the kit for Foo Fighters’ “Everlong” finale last night. Bushell showed no fear as she twirled her drum sticks and powered through the song from 1997’s The Colour & The Shape. Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins was content to sit and watch the talented youngster’s authoritative performance. The 11-year-old took a bow with the band as she received massive cheers from the crowd.
