Foo Fighters were honored with the inaugural U.S. Global Icon Award at the MTV VMAs on Sunday. The band not only accepted the award at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center last night but also presented a medley featuring three of their songs.

Billie Eilish introduced Foo Fighters last night. “An entire generation of music fans grew up with this band and they helped the world fall in love with rock and roll,” Eilish said. “They put their hearts into every single song and leave it all on the stage every time. They’ve carried the torch of rock and roll for 26 years,” the pop star added before reeling off some of the honors Foo Fighters achieved.

“Thank you very much for having us here tonight,” Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl stated in accepting the award. “It’s quite an award to receive. We’ve been a band for 26 years so it feels pretty good,” he noted and then thanked a number of people at MTV “past and present” that helped the group. “We’ll see you in 26 years,” Dave quipped.

Foo Fighters strung together “Learn To Fly,” “Shame Shame” and “Everlong” for their MTV VMAs performance. Drummer Taylor Hawkins honored the late Charlie Watts by putting a message of “Charlie R.I.P” on his bass drum. Check it out below:
