Flashback | Naked Guy Crashes Phish Show In Charlottesville

Five years ago tonight, Phish ended their first fall tour since returning after a lengthy breakup at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia. The show is most notable for a naked guy who crashed the stage during the performance and the references to “naked guy” that followed.

The craziness started towards the middle of the first set as Phish was performing “Ya Mar.” A naked concertgoer hopped on stage and ran around while being chased by security and the band’s crew. He was eventually caught. Guitarist Trey Anastasio soon thereafter noted what the naked guy did “took a lot of balls.” Later in “Ya Mar,” Mike Gordon threw in a “Naked Pa” lyric and there was also a few alternate lyrics referencing the situation in the “Run Like An Antelope” second set closer.
