Feist Returns With 1st Album In 6 Years ‘Multitudes’ & Shares 3 Singles

The long wait for new music from Feist is over. Today, the Canadian singer-songwriter unveiled three tracks from Multitudes, her first album since 2017, which arrives via Interscope Records on April 14. Feist will offer the live debuts of several cuts from the forthcoming LP tonight at 7 p.m. ET/PT during a free Valentine's Day mini-concert on Mandolin.

The 12-track follow-up to 2017’s Pleasure was co-produced by Feist, Robbie Loackritz and Mocky. Feist wrote the bulk of the material on the album, which came together after the birth of her daughter and sudden loss of her father, during her 2021 – 2022 tour.

Feist shared the following in regards to Multitudes:

“The last few years were such a period of confrontation for me, and it feels like it was at least to some degree for everyone. We confronted ourselves as much as our relationships confronted us. It felt like our relational ecosystems were clearer than ever and so whatever was normally obscured- like a certain way of avoiding conflict or a certain way of talking around the subject- were all of a sudden thrust into the light. And in all that reassessment, the chance to find footing on healthier, more honest ground became possible, and the effort to maintain avoidance actually felt like it took more effort than just handing ourselves over to the truth.”

Multitudes was recorded at Lackritz and Mocky’s studio in Northern California’s Redwood Forest. Contributors include longtime collaborators Todd Dahlhoff (woodwinds, synths, bass) and Amir Yaghmai (strings, guitars) as well as multi-instrumentalists Gabe Noel (Kendrick Lamar, Harry Styles, Kamasi Washington) and Shahzad Ismaily (Laurie Anderson, Lou Reed, Tom Waits).
