Dominican Holidaze 2016 Day 4 :: 12.04.16
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
Punta Cana, Dominican Republic
The 2016 edition of Dominican Holidaze in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic wrapped up with a full day of music on Sunday. Grateful Dead tribute act Joe Russo’s Almost Dead opened the main stage action with a public soundcheck and later closed out main stage festivities with two full sets. JRAD’s soundcheck included a take on Neil Young’s “Vampire Blues” as well as plenty of Grateful Dead gems. Manic Focus then treated Holidaze attendees to a poolside set at the Onyx Main Pool. Next, Umphrey’s McGee played their final set of the event which saw band members’ children share the stage at one point and featured a mix fan-favorite originals such as “Push The Pig” and “Resolution” along with covers of The Beatles’ “Dear Prudence” and “Tomorrow Never Knows.”
Lettuce teamed up for a Cocktail Hour performance at the Wink Bar ahead of two sets from the Disco Biscuits. The Biscuits opened with the dyslexic completion of the “Morph Dusseldorf” they performed on the first night of the event. They then jammed “Rock Candy” into “Pimp Blue Rikkis” before ending the first set with “Gangster” and “Story Of The World.” Bisco’s second set included the recently debuted “The Champions” out of “Crickets” as well as the beloved “Spaga” and a set-closing “Munchkin Invasion.” JRAD’s official Holidaze debut featured a number of inventive sequences such as fitting “Cassidy” between “Scarlet Begonias” and “Fire On The Mountain,” then working “Alligator” into “St. Stephen” and “Cumberland Blues” within “Throwing Stones.” The music then moved to the Wink Bar for a 3 a.m. – 5 a.m. set from Michal Menert.
