Florida-based tropical indie pop act The Hip Abduction have a treat for us as we get ready to celebrate Valentine’s Day. The band has shared the catchy “Stand Up For Love,” the second single off their Gold Under The Glow studio album which is due out March 11.

Here’s what the band had to say about the new single:

“Stand Up For Love” is a song we wrote with our usual method of combining a hodgepodge of disparate styles. It started with a kamalengoni lick in the syncopated style of wassoulou music and melded it with a more modern dance beat and funky synths. The overall theme and message – the simple and undeniable truth that we could make the world a lot better by merely changing our individual attitudes and being a little more selfless.

Gold Under The Glow was recorded in Nashville last summer and produced by Dabney Morris (Wild Cub). The group’s incorporation on the LP of the West Afcrian string instrument kamalengoni, is just one of the ways THA stands out from the pack as they prepare to bring their inventive sound to the masses with Gold Under The Glow.

Stream “Stand Up For Love”:

The Hip Abduction begin a run of headlining dates at NYC’s The Hall At MP on March 4.
