Exclusive Premiere | Tedeschi Trucks Band Acoustic Performance

Last week the Tedeschi Trucks Band kicked a lengthy season of touring in which Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi and the rest of the ensemble will visit many cities across the U.S., Canada and Europe by the time the tour wraps in May. A few months back the group released the outstanding Made Up Mind LP and we’re excited to debut an acoustic performance of one of our favorite tracks off the album.

One of the most earnest and heartfelt songs on Made Up Mind is the gorgeous tune “It’s So Heavy.” The band tracked the studio version of “It’s So Heavy” during the week of the Newtown shootings, with Tedeschi laying down the lead vocals just an hour after she found our her beloved grandfather had passed. “It is a heavy time that we’re living in,” Susan admits regarding the title lyric. “There’s a lot of really heavy stuff going on!” Derek calls it the band’s tribute to Levon Helm thanks to its The Band feel.
