Exclusive Premiere: TAUK Unveil Official Video For ‘Horizon’

In just a few weeks instrumental quartet TAUK will release their third studio album, Sir Nebula via STS9’s 1320 Records. Today, we’re pleased to premiere the official music video for the LP’s first single, “Horizon.”

This entrancing music video features a “visual feast of surreal moments and patterns” put together by Brooklyn director/motion designer Po Chen Chia that utilizes “liquid mixture experiments” subjected to vibrations and frequencies. “With some help from Lionel Taurus, Anthony Ferrara and Mike Potter, I set up and filmed a whole bunch of liquid mixture experiments. I bought plenty of random supplies from the dollar store to experiment with. Most of the footage consisted of acrylic paint, milk, veggie oil and magnetic toner. By mixing the magnetic toner and veggie oil, I was able to pour that solution into the paint which allowed me to move the paint around with a magnet. I also bought some professionally made Ferrofluid that spikes up when a magnet is near. For the white powder and vibrating liquid shots, I used a subwoofer/amplifier. Different frequencies form the subwoofer create a variety of ripple and patterns! The whole shoot took around three days. It was rad to experiment and discover new reactions. The end result is a visual feast of surreal moments and patterns,” Po Chen Chia tells JamBase.

Sir Nebula follows last year’s live LP HEADROOM and their 2014 sophomore studio full length Collisions. Robert Carranza (Mars Volta, Los Lobos, Jack Johnson) produced the album, which is said to feature “a more ambient-electro sound.” On September 15, the label will offer an exclusive 24-hour pre-release of the album for streaming and sale via download through 1320records.com. The next day, September 16, the album will be available digitally through TAUK’s online retail store at TAUKBAND.com, the Homegrown Music Network and all major online retailers. Sir Nebula will also be available in physical form at all TAUK concerts.
