Exclusive Premiere | Moon Hooch EWI Video

By Scott Bernstein Sep 2, 2014 10:50 am PDT

Brooklyn trio Moon Hooch have described their sound as “cave music,” which they feel is like house music but more organic, primitive and raw. The group will show off their inventive style on their sophomore studio effort -the aptly-titled This Is Cave Music, due September 16 via Hornblow Recordings and Palmetto Records.

Moon Hooch started out by busking in the NYC subways, where they’ve been banned from the Bedford Ave L station after the NYPD had to break up one too many impromptu underground raves, and have recently brought their music to the masses with national tours and performances at major music festivals.

The first video from This Is Cave Music features the track “EWI,” which is named for the Electronic Wind Instrument that Wenzl McGowen plays on the track and in the video. In the clip, we get to see Moon Hooch derail a wedding and almost get stabbed by the groom! “This video demonstrates the social energy that music can unleash. Music can break social norms and make people perceive events from different perspectives. The destruction of social norms can lead to bizarre situations and violent outbreaks but ultimately gives people the option to reconstruct their world view. We hope the energy we put out with our music helps people transcend fear based behavior patterns and recognize the unity of everything that is,” Moon Hooch sax player Wenzl McGowen tells JamBase.
