Colorado-based band recently recorded a new studio single entitled “Tear My Heart Out.” JamBase is pleased to exclusively premiere the emotional new track penned by guitarist Andrew McConathy.

When asked about “Tear My Heart Out,” McConathy shared the following statement regarding the single:

I wrote “Tear My Heart Out” in one sitting on September 3, 2016. The Drunken Hearts had just returned from a Melville-esque, holy grail-inspired, maiden-voyage of the Southeastern United States, which culminated in the loss of our bass player’s father to cancer. As hard as it was, it was a very telling moment for us as a band of individuals on the road.

Written in the vein of “what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger” and “when the going get’s tough, the tough get going” I needed to write something capturing how I felt during those heavy weeks. We were a very long way from home with no end in sight, but we knew we could sustain it. We knew it would be rough, but we also knew there would be light at the end of the tunnel … we just had to get there.

This song is dedicated to Jim McCartan and all our loved ones who have left us too soon.

Featuring McConathy along with his bandmates bassist Jon McCartan, banjo/pedal steel player Cody Russell and drummer Alex Johnson, stream “Tear My Heart Out” below:
