Colorado funk act The Motet released Totem, a new studio album produced by Eric Krasno (Lettuce/Soulive) this past Friday, July 8. Back in June, the band launched a new video series dubbed Conversations With The Motet in conjunction with Punching Mule featuring members of the band discussing their instruments, musical influences and the new LP.

The sixth installment of Conversations With The Motet finds the group’s guitarist Ryan Jalbert discussing the influence of Jimi Hendrix, the genesis of LP track “Know It Too Well” and how the song features his favorite guitar solo that he’s ever recorded. He also shares his thoughts on funk music in general and the importance of serving “the pocket.” Watch the latest installment of Conversations With The Motet featuring Ryan Jalbert

The final installment of Conversations With The Motet will be posted next Tuesday right here on JamBase. On July 22 The Motet headlines Red Rocks with support from Medeski, Martin & Wood, Vulfpeck and Mikey Thunder. Tickets are on sale now via AXS.com.
