Colorado funk act The Motet will release Totem, a new studio album produced by Eric Krasno (Lettuce/Soulive) this Friday, July 8. Earlier this month, the band launched a new video series dubbed Conversations With The Motet in conjunction with Punching Mule featuring members of the band discussing their instruments, musical influences and the new LP.
The fifth installment of Conversations With The Motet finds one of the group’s longtime keyboardist Joey Porter discussing the genesis of LP’s first single “Damn!,” his instrumental technique and how his rhythmic approach makes people dance. A new installment of Conversations With The Motet will be posted each Tuesday right here on JamBase through July 22 when The Motet headlines Red Rocks with support from Medeski, Martin & Wood, Vulfpeck and Mikey Thunder. A pre-order campaign for Totem is currently underway via the group’s Bandcamp page. A variety of packages are available including a CD signed by all members of The Motet.
