On the night of May 18 Everyone Orchestra played the Wild Buffalo in Bellingham, Washington. Earlier in the day news of Chris Cornell’s death was reported and EO played a segment of improvisation inspired by the Soundgarden frontman. Video of the spontaneous composition recently surfaced on EO’s YouTube channel and can be viewed below.
In the clip below Matt Butler conducts and sings as part of a lineup that also includes moe. drummer Vinnie Amico, Dopapod bassist Chuck Jones, The Werks guitarist Chris Houser, Tea Leaf Green guitarist Josh Clark, percussionist/vocalist Jans Ingber, trumpeter Paul Theodore Chandler of MarchForth, vocalist Sarah Clarke of Dirty Revival and Emancipator Ensemble keyboardist Asher Fulero. Butler said of Cornell, “he just didn’t know how much we loved him for a moment, so everybody tell somebody that you haven’t told them how much you love them a little bit more right now” before the grungey improv began.
