Eric Clapton kicked off his Crossroads Guitar Festival at the American Airlines Center in Dallas on Friday. The guitar god joined Peter Frampton for a rendition of The Beatlesâ âWhile My Guitar Gently Weeps” and also treated the audience to a stripped-down set of his own.
Frampton welcomed Clapton during the former’s set for the George Harrison-penned âWhile My Guitar Gently Weeps.â Clapton played lead guitar on the original Beatles recording featured on the White Album and was one of the only guest musicians to ever play with The Beatles.
Backed by an acoustic band and drums, Clapton got his set underway with âCircusâ followed by the Jimmy Cox classic âNobody Knows You When Youâre Down And Out.â âTears In Heavenâ came next ahead of âWonderful Tonight.â Slowhand would close out the acoustic set with âLay Down Sally.â
