Eric Clapton Welcomes Jan Vogler In Dresden
By Scott Bernstein Jun 11, 2019 • 8:35 am PDT
Eric Clapton concluded a brief tour of Germany and Austria with help from cellist Jan Vogler on Monday. Slowhand and his band closed out the 42nd Dresden Music Festival at the Messe Dresden in Germany.
The concert started in the same fashion as others on the run with the sequence of “Pretending,” “Key To The Highway,” “Hoochie Coochie Man” and “I Shot The Sheriff.” Then, Vogler emerged to augment the group for a five-song acoustic segment. The acclaimed cellist added to “Driftin’ Blues,” “Nobody Knows You When You’re Down & Out,” “Tears In Heaven,” “Layla” and “Running On Faith.”

Vogler left the stage for the second electric portion of Clapton’s main set. Eric and his band stuck to the script as most 2019 concerts until it came to the encore. The legendary guitarist ended the night and the tour with Joe Cocker’s “High Time We Went,” which hadn’t been performed during the run in Germany and Austria. Next up for Eric Clapton is a series of shows in the U.S. this September.
