Elton John Performs ‘Your Song’ Tribute To His Mother


Renowned musician Elton John held a concert at Barclaycard Arena in Hamburg, Germany on Tuesday night. The performance included a somber moment when John performed a song in dedication to his mother who had passed away the day before.

John addressed the audience prior to performing his touching ballad “Your Song.” He told the crowd:

Yesterday was a sad and hard day for me because my mother passed away. I’m glad to say she passed away peacefully and in no pain, but maybe sooner than she should have, and so I was quite shocked. And I was thinking how I could pay tribute to her tonight and what song I should chose. Well, this next song I wrote at her house, or apartment, and I can remember every single minute of writing this song with Bernie. So this is the song I want to dedicate to her. It’s taken me from nowhere to somewhere, so thank-you mom.
