El Michels Affair Reunites With Clairo For Velvety ‘Anticipate’ Single

El Michels Affair, the project of producer/musician Leon Michels, shared a new single, “Anticipate,” featuring singer-songwriter Clairo (Claire Cottrill). The track will appear on Michels’ upcoming album, 24 Hr Sports, due out on September 5 via Big Crown Records.

While Michels has already released two singles in 2025, he noted in a social media post sharing “Anticipate” that it is the first single from 24 Hr Sports. A highly collaborative artist, 24 Hr Sports follows Michels’ 2023 LP, Glorious Game with The Roots’ Black Thought. An instrumental master, El Michels Affair created the music for the 2024 film Boy Kills World, to run down just a few of his recent projects.

2024 also saw the release of Clairo’s Leon Michels-co-produced album Charm. Michels has now teamed back up with the singer-songwriter for his latest single, “Anticipate,” a breezy stroll through El Michels Affair’s signature soul stylings, laced with synth and topped with Cottrill’s velvety vocals.
