Watch Eggy Play ‘Waiting Game’ As Trio For JoyRx Music

Eggy made their Austin City Limits Music Festival debut last fall, where members of the band swung by the JoyRx Tent. Video of the group’s intimate “Waiting Game” performance at the backstage area was rolled out today on JoyRx Music’s YouTube channel and can be viewed below.

JoyRx traces its origins to 1995, when it was established as the Children’s Cancer Association by the Ellis family following the loss of their five-year-old daughter, Alexandra, to cancer. Emerging from profound loss yet driven by deep love, the family envisioned transforming pediatric cancer care by focusing on joy and music-based healing.

JoyRx Music has evolved into a nationwide initiative that harnesses music’s therapeutic power to reach thousands of hospitalized children of varying ages facing diverse medical conditions. The organization addresses a critical need in healthcare by providing comprehensive arts and music programming. Through bedside visits, virtual connections, and on-demand content available through JoyRx Kids, the program adapts to meet children in their unique circumstances, bringing moments of brightness to their most challenging experiences.

Eggy guitarist Jake Brownstein, keyboardist Dani Battat and drummer Alex Bailey played “Waiting Game” at the JoyRx Tent sans bassist Mike Goodman. The song is the title track from the band’s fantastic 2024 studio album.

Battat utilized a mini keyboard, Bailey tapped a wooden percussion box while Brownstein fed his electric guitar through a small amp. Alex powerfully handled lead vocals, as he did on all Waiting Games tracks, with Jake and Dani providing spot-on harmonies.
