Eggy’s West Coast Winter Tour brought the band to The Crystal Bay Casino’s Crown Room in Crystal Bay, Nevada on Tuesday. The Lake Tahoe area play saw the Connecticut-based jam quartet break out the Eagles hit “Take It Easy” for the first time since 2017.

Eggy — Jake Brownstein (guitar), Alex Bailey (drums), Mike Goodman (bass) and Dani Battat (keys) — launched the concert with original “Queen’s Gambit.” The band would interlace the song throughout the Tahoe concert. Eggy offered a similar “Queen’s Gambit”-laced concert in Portland, Oregon on Valentine’s Day.

“Take It Easy” emerged from the second “Queen’s Gambit” two songs into the second set which began with “City Lights.” The Eagles released “Take It Easy” as their debut single in 1972. The song was a co-write between the Eagles’ Glenn Frey and Jackson Browne. Browne would later include the song on his 1973 LP, For Everyman.

Not only was “Take It Easy” a seven-year bust out for Eggy — last time played on December 30, 2017, in Bridgeport, Connecticut as per thecarton.net — it was also just the second time the band performed the song. Drummer Alex Bailey handled lead vocals with the rest of the band joining for the signature Eagles harmonies on the chorus.

Additional covers in Crystal Bay included the Grateful Dead’s “Help on the Way” > “Slipknot!,” Punch Brothers’ “My Oh My” and CSNY’s “Carry On.” The latter came sandwiched within second set closer “Shatter.”

Eggy’s encore kicked off with “Shadow,” which saw a return to the “Queen’s Gambit” and “Slipknot!” themes. The band fit a return to “City Lights” within “Shadow” as well.
