Eggy capped their eventful 2024 with a New Year’s Eve concert at Paradise Rock Club in Boston. After the countdown to midnight, the band dropped into their first performance of the Grateful Dead’s “Terrapin Station” since 2018.
The foursome of guitarist Jake Brownstein, bassist Mike Goodman, drummer Alex Bailey and keyboardist Dani Battat concocted a five-song first set on NYE. “Apology” opened the celebratory concert and was infused with elements of “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney. “Backyard Bear” was then paired with “Evergreen,” with “High Noon” coming in next. A cover of Emily King’s “Remind Me” punctuated the first half.

Coming out of set break, Eggy opened set two with “Woah There.” As time in 2024 continued running out, Eggy launched into “Buying Time.” Leaving the song unfinished, the quartet segued into “Onitsuka Tiger” and Goodman delivered a narration about drones that led into the countdown to midnight.
Eggy then began their 2025 with a complete rendering of the “Terrapin Station” suite. The 27-minute version was the second time Eggy played the Dead classic, and first time since August 4, 2018 (a 432 show gap between performances).
After arriving fully at “Terrapin,” Eggy ended the set with “Smile” featuring teases of “Bodysnatchers” by Radiohead and “Upside Down.” The night ended with an encore consisting of “Shadow” interwoven with the ending of “Buying Time.”
