Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder Appears On Lily Cornell Silver’s ‘Mind Wide Open’ Series
Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder guests on the latest episode of Lily Cornell Silver’s IGTV series, Mind Wide Open. Vedder spoke with Chris Cornell’s daughter about activism, how he’s gotten through hard times in his life, being open to accepting advice and more.
Mind Wide Open was launched by Lily Cornell Silver last month. Her aim is to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues. Past guests have included Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, yoga teacher Monique Minahan and author Laura van Dernoot Lipsky.
Eddie discussed his own struggles with mental health issues and how the best advice he received was to accept advice from people he respected. He also told Lily that he found out about her birth just before Pearl Jam took the stage for their ill-fated Roskilde set in 2000 in which nine festivalgoers died and others were injured after they were crushed in a mosh pit in front of the stage.
Vedder recalled some of the more memorable experiences he had with Lily’s dad, Chris Cornell and the pair’s mutual love of nature. Lily then queried Eddie about coping mechanisms to which Vedder discussed songwriting and music, among other ways he’s been helped out of depression. Another topic hit upon was activism and how important both Lily and Eddie feel it is right now.
